Camila Duarte

For me, photography was never about equipment or perfect techniques. It has always been about presence — being there, truly, when life happens.

I started photographing at nineteen, with a camera borrowed from my grandmother. Back then, I knew nothing about aperture, ISO or composition. But I knew how to recognize when something moved me. And it was chasing that emotion that I built my path.

I studied Visual Arts, but it was in practice — in weddings under the rain, in sunset sessions, in portraits where people finally recognized themselves — that I found my language. A photography that breathes. That doesn't shout, but whispers.

I live in São Paulo, but I travel wherever the story takes me. I've photographed weddings in Tuscany, sessions in Lisbon and portraits in simple backyards in the countryside. To me, the place matters less than the intention: being present, creating a safe space, and letting the light do the rest.

When I'm not behind the camera, I'm tending to my plants, reading poetry or walking aimlessly around the neighborhood — which, come to think of it, is another way of photographing.

Authenticity

No forced poses or rehearsed smiles. I value the spontaneous gesture, the genuine gaze, the silence between two laughs.

Delicacy

I work with natural light and subtle compositions. Each image is treated with the same care as a handwritten letter.

Connection

Before any click, I want to understand who you are. The best photo is born from an honest conversation, not a briefing.

Timelessness

Trends fade. I seek images that, twenty years from now, will still tell the same story with the same strength.

"I don't photograph what I see. I photograph what I feel upon seeing."
